| The design of an addition to the Kimbell Art Museum - known as the best museum of the 20th Century- by Renzo Piano was released yesterday. The $70 million addition, will be located to the west of the original building and mirrors the Kimbell in "height, scale and in the span of the facade as well as in its tripartitie plan and used of travertine and concrete as primary materials." One of the important pieces of the design is reorganizing the area's circulation to attract visitors to enter Kahn's masterpiece through the west facade - his original intention. The addition is expected to begin construction in 2010 and be completed in two years. Something to remember is that, with this addition, Renzo Piano will have touched two of the greatest architecture works ever - Le Corb's Ronchamp and Kahn's Kimbell.Craaazy. The images released are a bit ambigious but its an exciting start nonetheless. Check it. |
