F*CK My Life Find

So this site is new to me but I had a good laugh when I saw this post.  Generally the site is amusing to see people talk about how messed up their life is but this post hit home for those of us in the architecture world.

The Iraq War Progress in Numbers

While people will forever debate the validity of going into Iraq this chart shows why the incoming Obama administration will not abandon the fight.  With so many things domestically going poorly right now the new administration will be keen on holding on to this bright spot being left by the Bush administration.  It is of course ironic since Obama is widely believed to have been propelled to victory in the primary as a result of his claim that he would withdraw US soldiers from Iraq and his opposition to the surge.  He seems, however, to have learned from it's success as is evident by Obama's retaining of Gates.

People Under The Stairs x OkayplayerTV

Thes One, Double K, aka People Under the Stairs are my people.  With 2008 ending and remembering the amount of mixtapes that I listened to.  And how many albums that were released didn't come close to the rawness and authentic quality of a mixtape.  But here comes my homies from Cali dropping an amazing album for 08, Fun DMC.

2009 Mercedes Benz McLaren SLR Sir Stirling Moss Edition

mercslrstirlingmoss_01

This is one really sleek successor to already sleek Benz McLaren SLR.  To honor one legendary race car they named this edition after him, Sir Stirling Moss, he is better know for is incredible win in the 1955 Mille Migila.  It will share the same 650 hp V8 engine from the SLR 722 edition.

Due to come out June 09’ with a limited production of 75 cars worldwide exclusively being sold only to previous SLR owners (Crap, I guess winning the lotto in next 6 months will not help).

Santas disable traffic cams in Phoenix!

A group of people dressed as Santa disable various traffic cams around Tempe, Arizona.  At the end of a the video a message appears, "Ho Ho Ho! Death to the surveillance state! Free movement for all people!''  I couldn't agree more.  Within one month of living in Arizona, I got TWO speeding tickets at the same location without any warning.

Reality Ruins the Volt?

Concept Volt

Expected Production Volt

Remember when plug-in was sexy?  Back when Chevy announced the volt something amazing happened every red blooded American instantly wanted the most environmentally friendly car out there.  Suddenly people who never would have dremt of driving a prius started getting interested in mpgs and signing up on waiting lists to be the first in their area for the ability to drive 40 miles without using a single drop of gasoline.   Soon after oil prices surged and the volt became an iconic middle finger to Opec.

Then something hit and suddenly the volt looks a little bit like an improved camry.  This thing is called reality.  After months of aerodynamics testing and teams looking for ways to economize the car the cutting edge design has been greatly watered down.  It's as if all of a sudden my cappuccino was decaf.  While the car is still a revolutionary break through what remains to be seen is if mpg's are enough to make your average Joe fork over 40,000 usd when his new volt no longer makes the guy down the streets BMW look like an Oldsmobile.

Congratulations Mr. Anh "Joseph" Cao

What can I say but Louisiana did it again!  After being the first state to elect an Indian-American congressman and Governor Louisana just elected America's first Vietnames-American congressman, Mr. Cao, in its special election.  This is an encouraging sign again from a state who untill recently was lampooned as being racially backwards. Ironically Mr Cao plans on joining the black congressional congress as well since his district is primarily African American.  What, however, is really significant about this is that it is another sign of the new era of post racial politics.  His election like that of Gov Jindal was not about race but about replacing incompetence with competence.  Welcome to the post racial era.
