Transparent Rims - Forgiato Radurra

These have to be the tightest rims or maybe the absence of having a rim is cool. Now you can see your brake calipers in action. This is the Forgiato Radurra, Radurra is italian for clear. This rim brought Forgiato back to their days of jewelry making, because the same technique as placing a diamond into a bezel. The technique is bexel setting is where the diamonds are just slightly larger than the bezel they are set into, and held in place by pressure, only a master diamond setter has the ability to do this. The same logic was placed on the rim. These baby retail for $5,000 each rim.

Then why are there a million bolts that obviously hold the clear material in place?
Also, when the gem is held in place by tension (which you mistook for "pressure"), you just place a gem in a spread apart gap, and let the metal press back into place. Bezel ("bexel") setting is achieved by gently hammering the soft gold around the gem, making the opening the gem was placed into too small for it to come back out. No pressure, it's just stuck.
Also, these would be a huge pain in the ass to clean brake dust off of, and I'd like to see results of tests on their strength/shatter resilience, wouldn't want to hit a pothole at speed and shatter a wheel. In fact, looking at all of Forgiato's wheels, none of them are practical. These are for cars that never leave a showroom floor, a practice which I've never understood.
Also, it seems Forgiato no longer markets these, the page for them on their site is a dead link. Maybe even they decided it was an impractical product.
Who cares if alot of their
Who cares if alot of their wheels seem impractical.. Especially when some would obviously be made for show cars anyway?
Look at some of the fashion cat-walk outfits you see people creating.. Alot wouldn't be practical for the every day person to wear out somewhere, but are mere creations for show..
Alot of modifications people do to show cars are impractical.. Ultra low, ultra wide, crazy and bizarre.. To make people go 'oh wow'.. When something is built for show, it doesn't have to be practical.. It just has to look great, as that is it's purpose.. People with the money, wanting to create something people can appreciate and enjoy looking at..
I think these wheels are pretty cool, impractical for every day use maybe, but something to gawk at and appreciate..
YEAHh thats what i was
YEAHh thats what i was thinking, i'm sure they dont stay clean for long and when you do get brakee dust on them they look like shit and having a car that you dont drive is only for rare priceless cars
thanks for images
Those are well cool

What the heck?

What happens when the brakes

I was waiting for the day
I was waiting for the day when all I would need to do, to clean my wheels, is to use windex...
Looks great for the show
Looks great for the show room, but im betting that this product wont look near as good after daily use
I bet these babies are
I bet these babies are expensive... I love 'em though. They would not be so fine on my Taurus, but on the Corvette would be nice. I guess you'd have to make sure that your brake calipers and other equipment looked nice. A lot of cleaning brake dust would be required but it would be worth it. With a solid face on your transparent rims, you would probably have to take the rim off the hub to properly clean the hub/brake hardware. Perhaps you could rig an air compressor nozzle to blow off everyday dust and debris, but removing the wheel would be required to get the job done right.
SICK! How much those run,
SICK! How much those run, not big on rims, might get black... But see thru!?!?!? YO!!!!!!!!!!! I want 4, kthnkx....
Stumbled!
er... um... so ok, looked
er... um... so ok, looked at the pictures, but didn't read first. ^^ 'scuse the newbie... hahahah! still love 'em!
yeah that'd be great until
yeah that'd be great until the first time you stopped and break dust went everywhere.
... and don't forget to
... and don't forget to clean the insides of your rims (where all the brake dust collects).
They use the same material
They use the same material for the windshields in space shuttles so I presume the stuff is pretty strong.
i bet they get dirty as fuck
i bet they get dirty as fuck tho with all the brake dust. never ending chore,no thanks!
This Calls For MEGA RIM
This Calls For MEGA RIM JOB
lick lick lick
It has to be said, they are
It has to be said, they are friggin cool.
I love the look, it would be
I love the look, it would be great for a show. But the other guy is right about daily use. I could only imagine how fast the brake dust will fog it up, not to mention the smegma on the roads
What's wrong when they get
What's wrong when they get black? I think you're a racist.
Interesting novelty item. As
Interesting novelty item. As stated above, not very practical for day to day use.
Might be able to get an endorsement deal with caliper companies if you plan to show the car though.

i love the rims and just wanted to know how much a set would be and whare can i find them ? im in canada and do thay come in diff tints red blue black instead of just clear?
I've read a ton of good and
I've read a ton of good and bad comments...
well, the idea is cool, I don't get why to critic when you're not obliged to buy them
ovbiously not everyone can spend 20000 in 4 transparent rims, anyway if you own a $200000 car you might want to buy them, and I guess that's the target of who produces them
when you have such a car well..there's something to show behind that glass....;)
Arguing that it will get
Arguing that it will get dirty is pointless. A white car gets dirty and you fucking wash it. I'm assuming, the fact that they don't rust, compared to chrome wheels, will in the long run actually keep them looking nicer longer. I think the rim's are amazing, and not too flashy.
I wouldn't want any of these
I wouldn't want any of these rims. I doubt they can handly any high ammounts of torque. *snap*
Too impractical.
as long as they can prove
as long as they can prove the rims can handle just as much torque as any other rim i would get them. although the tire would probably spin before the rim broke.
Very good projeckt
@Tyler Its not that they get
