The Extreme Divide
Check this out: pictures in various cities such as Sao Paolo, Brazil (above), Caracas, Venezuela, and Dharavi, Mumbai showing the incredible divide between the rich and poor. This picture above amazes me mostly becuase of terraced balconies with swimming pools and the size of the tennis courts versus the size of one favela.
Pascal Dangin: Master Retoucher
Who is Pascal Dangin? He is the retoucher for stars. Pretty he master that professionally photoshops fashion photos for editorial. His aid is so high demand, for his techincal and as well as his taste of what is visually appealing in photography. Majority of well known photographer such as Annie Leibovitz, Steven Meisel, Craig McDean and more will not allow one of their images to be published with it passing the hands of Dangin's studio.
I mentioned the Dove ad campaign that proudly featured lumpier-than-usual “real women” in their undergarments. It turned out that it was a Dangin job. “Do you know how much retouching was on that?” he asked. “But it was great to do, a challenge, to keep everyone’s skin and faces showing the mileage but not looking unattractive.”
If you are interested in Photoshop or Photography or the business of graphics the New Yorker article on Pascal Dangin is a great read.
Unnatural & Calm

The above collection of portraits are titled "Unnatural & Calm,"by Ken Adams , he was inspired from Zhu Yunwei's one eyed Portraits below.
opened / closed eyes
"each portrait consists of two portrait shots. took two pictures of each person - one with opened eyes,he other with closed eyes. I then integrated the two pictures into one portrait,
resulting in the calm but unnatural expressions seen here. human beings wake up and open their eyes in the morning, close their eyes and fall asleep at night, these are which the two
normal states of everyone. "-Zhu Yunwei

The Passion of Kanye West
In next months issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, Kanye West will be taking to up the cover as Jesus Christ. Supposely he is presented as another G.O.A.T., Greatest Of All Time, in the magazine as being Muhammad Ali.The article will give you a run down of Kanye's year from his 8 grammy nominations, his verbal attack on the president and his porn addiction which he acquired at the early age of 5.
"In America, they want you to accomplish these great feats, to pull off these David Copperfield-type stunts," he says. "You want me to be great, but you don't ever want me to say I'm great?" A quote from the issue that shows him to be egotistical but confident in himself and his work. You can't hurt a man for being proud of himself. Man, if I was in Kanye's shoes, I would definitly be proud of myself and would thank the Lord everyday for it (I still do).
